When setting up different FTP, mail, MySQL programs, etc., you need to specify the server hostname. You can check the server on which your account is hosted in different ways:
Via a direct cPanel login link
It is possible to check the server hostname while logging into cPanel by typing into a browser http://yourdomain.tld/cpanel:
In this example, the hostname is server234.web-hosting.com
NOTE: This approach will be useful only when the domain name doesn’t have the SSL certificate installed. If the domain has the SSL certificate installed, the cPanel login link will bring you to the https://yourdomain.tld:2083 link with no server hostname shown.
In the Welcome Email
You can look up the server hostname in the Welcome Email sent to you in the email with the “Your Hosting Account Details for yourdomain.com” subject. It was sent to the email address assigned to your hosting billing profile on the day you ordered the hosting package. Please check your Inbox and Spam/Junk folders, as it might have ended up there.
The server hostname is located there under the Hosting package details section:
NOTE: If your hosting service was moved to another server during its usage, the hostname from the Welcome Email won’t be correct. Thus, you’ll need to check it in another way.
In cPanel
For Shared and Reseller hosting plans, it is possible to check the server hostname directly from the cPanel account >> by clicking on the Server Information under the “General Information” menu on your right:
The hostname will be shown opposite to the Server Name field:
With this, you can successfully know the server you are hosted on. Happy Hosting🌟
