This guide outlines the steps to create a backup of your WordPress installation using Softaculous Apps Installer within your cPanel, specifically tailored for telaHosting users.
Step-by-Step Guide
1. Log in to cPanel
To begin, you need to access your cPanel account. telaHosting provides a few ways to do this:
- Via telaHosting Account Panel: Log in to your telaHosting account. Once logged in, you will automatically see your cPanel dashboard or find ‘Go to cPanel’ buttons within your services.
- Directly via Browser: Type one of the following links into your browser, replacing
yourdomain.comwith your actual domain name:yourdomain.com/yourcpanelcpanel.yourdomain.comyourdomain.com:2083
2. Navigate to Softaculous Apps Installer
Once logged into cPanel, scroll down to the ‘Software’ section and click on ‘Softaculous Apps Installer’ or ‘WordPress Manager by Softaculous’.
3. Access Your WordPress Installations
In the Softaculous interface, click on the ‘All Installations’ icon (often represented by a box or grid icon) to view a list of all your installed applications.
4. Select Your WordPress Installation for Backup
Locate the WordPress installation you wish to back up from the list. Next to your installation, you will see several icons. Click on the ‘Backup’ icon, which typically looks like a folder or a disk.
5. Configure Backup Options
On the backup page, you will be presented with options to configure your backup. Ensure the following:
- Backup Location: The default location is usually the
softaculous_backupsdirectory on your hosting account. You may also have options to back up to a remote server, Dropbox, or Google Drive if these have been configured. - Backup Database: Make sure this option is selected to include your WordPress database in the backup.
- Backup Files: Ensure this option is selected to include all your WordPress files (themes, plugins, uploads, etc.) in the backup.
6. Start the Backup Process
After verifying your desired options, click the ‘Backup Installation’ button.
7. Monitor Backup Progress
Softaculous will now begin creating the backup. This process can take several minutes, depending on the size of your WordPress installation. It is important not to close the browser window until the backup process is fully completed.
8. Download Your Backup (Optional)
Once the backup is successfully completed, you will receive a confirmation message. You can then download the backup file to your local computer from the ‘Backups and Restore’ section within Softaculous. The backup files are also stored in the softaculous_backups directory within your cPanel’s File Manager.
